Configure --storage.tsdb.retention.time in Prometheus. The Professional plan (60 GB NVMe) stores ~3-6 months of metrics at 10-second scrape intervals from 10 hosts. Use --storage.tsdb.retention.size to cap disk usage and enable automatic old data deletion.
Loki stores logs compressed on disk, indexed only by labels (not log content). It is significantly cheaper in disk and RAM than Elasticsearch for log storage. Query logs with LogQL in Grafana. Ideal for log aggregation when you don't need full-text search across log content.
